Local
Projects: Mothers Nurturing Mothers (put supplies in
UMW bin). Sylvia delivered $60.00 worth of paper goods to Menchville
House. The ladies were very grateful.
District

Education, Campbell’s Product Codes, Postage Stamps.
World
Thank Bank: April- It’s spring! For
the return of the robins and other summer birds, 15 cents goes into your bank;
for the first flower of the season, another 15 cents.

Many
thanks to Doris Comer, Marsha Six and Billie Quigley for organizing the Easter
delivery and to all who delivered the many lilies! Hope we can use the same system for Christmas too and have
someone (or 2 or 3) to step up and take the lead.
Nominations Committee – We need volunteers from the following circles for the nominating committee:
Dana Tyson, Elizabeth Overby, Miriam Gruber, Ardelle Lett and Barb
Liddick. The committee will meet in
May/June and be ready to submit
nominees at the August 14 Board Meeting. Let June and Donna Shafer
know by the beginning of April. Please
consider appointing a person if there is no volunteer. Thanks.
Our election of officers will be at the September meeting. Unit Officer Training Day is Sat. Nov. 22.
Mar. 8 We “hosted” the Peninsula District UMW
Annual Prayer Breakfast in
our Celebration Center. Many, many
thanks to Linda Carrithers and all the ladies who made bookmark favors
and to Kim Mungin for her super- duper breakfast. The table decorations were creative and lovely. Troop 6 turned out to do a fabulous job setting
up and serving the breakfast. We are
proud of you! Hostesses for the breakfast were Cathy Haskell,
Mary Ann Hoye, Beth Murray, Kay Fries, and Linda McLawhorn. Thanks.J
General
Meeting: Jim Rogers
presented a PowerPoint presentation from his recent trip to Israel and
Jordan. He showed distances between
places very well. Thanks.

Report & actions taken
Mary
Ann Hoye presented the balance sheet for Jan. and Feb. She is keeping the books in ledger form as
requested by the UMW “higher ups” Her report is posted on the UMW bulletin
board and is attached to the Open Channels in the box by the UMW board.
The group voted to send $50.00 toward Camil
Liceaga’s spring trip to Honduras.
June
noted that women (young and not so young) can
request funds for attending events like the Spiritual Life Retreat and the
School of Christian Missions. WMUMW
will give scholarships toward the cost of these events. Put your requests in
the UMW box. The board meets on April 10 and May 8.
Future Dates:

4-6, South Eastern Jurisdiction Quadrennial Meeting, Hampton. We do not
need any greenery or plants. Joyce

“Discernment: Listening to God.” Is
anyone going?

31, UMW Motivational Evening - A
Women’s Evening Out – Dessert and Dramatic Performance “Women of the Bible
& Femme Fatales” AKA “Bible
Babes”. Call Beth Murray if you would
like to go to see the performance in April (they do 1 performance per month).
Beth will be setting up a meeting to
work out details. The idea is to have a
festive dessert time with friends (round tables with table cloths) and watch
this terrific program. We’re aiming to have
100-200 women, by selling tickets and advertising. Save the date and invite a friend or two.
June
6 Friday, the group
voted to put on the Christian Ed’n
Appreciation Dinner in Fellowship Hall.
Please put a note in the UMW box in the office telling who will set
up/serve and serve/clean up for the dinner.
We will need 2-4 persons per circle (larger circles 3-4 please). Thanks.
June 5-7, visit Red Bird Mission and
UMW Day at Ferrum College – Sylvia Custer is going.

Salad Luncheon FH 10am Note: This is a
craft day also. We will do crafts, so
bring in any needle work from home or join in the craft projects and we’ll have
an old fashioned “quilting bee” oops that should be a “craft bee.” We can all
admire the things you do!
