is always in need of non-perishable food items for their food pantry. We collect these items monthly. You can place them in the baskets outside of the sanctuary. Thrive also collects new and gently used shoes, these can also be placed in a collection bin in the Celebration Center Gathering Area.
Regency Health Care Center
has an urgent need for volunteers (especially male volunteers). Contact Janet, the Activities Director, at 757-890-0675 (from 8:30am-5pm) for more information.
Regency Health Care Center is located at 112 N. Constitution Drive in Yorktown, Virginia.
In addition, they are seeking some needed items for the residents there:
– books on tape
– books for their library
– movies (DVD or VHS)
– puzzles (medium difficulty)
– small gifts for bingo prizes (lotions, soaps, lip gloss, little trinkets)
Please put your donations in the plastic bins marked Local Mission located in the hallway of the Celebration Center.
The Advance is an official program of The United Methodist Church for voluntary, designated, second-mile giving. Through The Advance, United Methodist annual conferences, districts, local churches, and organizations, as well as individuals and families, may choose to support mission programs or mission personnel with their financial gifts. Each Advance project has been vetted and approved by Global Ministries and Advance staff.
Honduras Medical Mission Trip: Saturday September 19 – 27, 2015:
In 2015 WMUMC will be sending a team to the mountains of Honduras on a medical mission trip organized by the Friends of Barnabus Foundation. This team will be providing medical and dental services, eyeglasses, and medicines. They need medical and dental professionals, translators, and others to help with the counting and dispensing of medicines and glasses. This experience is open to adults and high school students if accompanied by a parent. You can sign up for the team by contacting Carlos Liceaga.

Red Bird Kentucky Mission Trip August 2nd to the 8th, 2015:
In 2015, for the second time, WMUMC will be sending a team to Red Bird Mission, Kentucky. Our team serves impoverished areas of Eastern Kentucky including work to make homes warmer, safer and drier. Last year we had a team of 35 and this year we have a team of 40 going. You can help this mission by volunteering with fundraising events, contact Jim Corliss for more information.
Stop Hunger Now:
Our partnership with this international organization provides food and life saving aid to the world’s most vulnerable people and works to end global hunger. In the last 2 years we have packaged over 50,000 life giving meals. Dates will be posted on our Facebook Page and you are welcome to volunteer during the year with our fundraising events for this mission.
