A Life-long Winning Streak

Hi guys,

We’re almost finished our official Men’s Fraternity curriculum for this year – this week is the last session from the book!!
Next week is our Graduation celebration – and we’ll also talk over the responses from our “looking forward” questionnaires. We take a week’s break, and then it’s the Courageous movie the evening of April 12th!

I’d like to challenge you to start inviting family, friends, and co-workers to that Thursday night showing. Not only is it a great movie, but we’ve got a great opportunity to be ‘salt & light’ there and in the 4 weeks’ Bible study that follows.  My “elevator speech” is that some guys who can’t or won’t commit to 6 months or a year MIGHT be willing to try something for 4 short weeks!!  So let’s see this as an opportunity for other guys to “taste” the goodness of God and positive fellowship with other men, and “see” their way closer to God through us.  Don’t be lukewarm!

Join us this week as we look at:
-       The Names We’ve Earned by Being Here Today
-       Three Additional Key Moves to Help You
-       The Fifth Promise… Which Is the Key to It All

Life-long Winning StreakThis Thursday (Mar 22nd) at Warwick Memorial UMC (38 Hoopes Rd, Newport News):

Taking God to Work

Men, (Back in our regular room this week)

Our “10-Key Moves“ sheets are due this week!! Take a few minutes, review the prior sessions and whatever you’ve ID’d so far to date and boil it down (or add a few!) to make up your “10 Key Moves” for winning at work and home. Completion is a prerequisite for graduation in a couple weeks!! I’ve attached the checklist in two forms: Word (you can type them in) and PDF (fill in by hand).

We’re so encouraged by your dedication and commitment!! To see our numbers holding strong, guys who’ve missed sessions being welcomed back warmly, and the obvious investment in time, thought and action shared during Check-Ins and small group discussions, well – it’s GREAT to see. So KEEP WITH IT and take this to heart (from the book of Hebrews, chapter 12, verses 1-3):
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider Him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.”
Sheds a whole new light on the “Paradox Principle”, huh? Hang in there guys – this is a race worth finishing!

Join us this week as we look at:
- Can You Take God to Work?
- How to Let God into Your Work
- Believe It! You’re on a Mission from God

Taking God to Work

This Thursday (Mar 15th) at Warwick Memorial UMC (38 Hoopes Rd, Newport News):

Reputation…

Hi Guys,

First: we’re meeting in the Fellowship Hall  this week (in the hallway closer to the sanctuary). The PORT homeless shelter is using our regular room.

This week’s session about our reputation, about being God’s man in the place we spend most of our time.  And… where we practice the way we’re going to be the rest of our lives – even AFTER we’ve retired from the work force.  In the military there’s a saying: train like you fight. That way when you really ARE fighting, it’s not different… things come naturally.  But like we’ve heard a lot this year – being an authentic man is work; doing what just comes naturally can be lethal.  Interesting that most of the scriptures from this week’s lesson are from Proverbs – one of the “wisdom” books in the Bible.  Yep, work is definitely a place where I can use all the wisdom I can get… as I strive to make a name for myself as God’s man on the job.

Come join us as we check out:
-       What’s in a Name?
-       Five Proven Practices for Establishing Your Name at Work
-       Two Crucial Commitments for Protecting Your Name at Work
-       The Benefits of a Good Name

Reputation at work

This Thursday (Mar 8th) at Warwick Memorial UMC (38 Hoopes Rd, Newport News):
Session 14: Making a Name for Yourself at Work

6:00 AM and 7:00 PM in the FELLOWSHIP HALL this week.
